Roger Waters Says Pink Floyd Will Never Tour Again

Discussing about his recent production of The Wall,Roger Waters said a full-fledged Pink Floyd reunion tour will not happen. "David and Nick and I might do a one-off somewhere, but there's no way we're going to do a tour," he said. "It's just such a shame that we didn't get around to it before Rick died."

His new version of The Wall has a more huge context today than it did when he and Pink Floyd first staged the show more than 30 years ago. The 67-year-old Floyd co-founder told Rolling Stone magazine it's "basically the same show, but with a broader meaning."

"We had to deal with the fact that it was one thing for a man in his 30s to sing about his young adult life, which was sort of an echo of his upbringing at that point," Waters said. "But it's something else to go on doing that when you're in your 60s."

Roger Water's comeback to vancouver in anticipation on the wall tour, we figured we needed a grand gesture to gig him how much we care.

What do you give a man who has helped bring us some of the most beloved albums of all time? And then it dawned on us.

It really doesn’t get much longer than naming a hockey rink after the man. Waters will be playing The Wall in its entirety on friday 10 December at Rogers Arena.

Roger Waters, bass player, co-vocalist and lyricist for the English band Pink Floyd, is offering a new way to experience his performance of the 1979 album “The Wall”.

ith the construction of a fake, brick wall halfway through his set - completely blocking himself (and his eleven-piece band) off from the crowd to show the disassociative state society is heading in.

“The new production of The Wall is an attempt to draw some comparisons, to illuminate our current predicament, and is dedicated to the innocent lost in the intervening years,” states Waters in his tour blog.

Waters also questions if, “the technologies of communication in our culture serve to enlighten us and help us to understand one another better, or will the deceive us and tear us apart?”

The rock veteran obviously sides his opinion on the matter with the latter statement since the only visual sequences during the show are flashes of Shell oil signs and various religious artifacts. Waters even allows fans to upload pictures of civilians and soldiers lost at war that are shown throughout the show as a protest of unnecessary violence. As he feels, “many of these tragic losses of life are avoidable.”

Tickets are not cheap, but Waters still has a few weeks of U.S. touring left. To get the first-hand experience of the visonary music, it would be wise to order tickets now before the prices rise any higher.

Roger Waters’ The Wall Comes to Wells Fargo Center

On Monday, Nov. 8, Tuesday, Nov. 9 and Thursday, Nov. 11. Roger Waters will celebrate there 30th anniversary of the original release of The Wall with a visit to the Wells Fargo Center

His monumental tour features a full band and a newly-mounted state-of-the-art production of his masterpiece on alienation, paranoia and stardom-induced estrangement performed in its brick-by-brick entirety.

The Wall was America’s top-selling album of 1980 released originally in November 1979. It is one of the top-selling double albums in music history, and is still in the US Top 5 best-selling albums of all time. Early reviews of the tour have been glowing.

While the chances of Waters and Gilmour reconciling egos and bringing Pink Floyd back together for a full tour are about as good as pigs (literally) flying, if Roger’s “Dark Side of the Moon Tour” a few years back was any indication, all are in for quite a treat.

In Omaha, he waved at fans, encouraged claps and swayed to the music.

The original album and tour was about isolation. This time around, it was more anti-war, anti-capitalism and anti-poverty than about any kind of psychological issue.

Roger Water: Roger Waters will tour The Wall

Roger Waters, the Bass player and main songwriter for Pink Floyd during the 70s and early 80s, is to revisit one of the bands masterpieces and take the Wall back out on the road for the first time since the he performed it with Pink Floyd.
Roger the Wall has been performed since then on a one off concert commemorating the fall of the Berlin wall back in 1990 with guest appearances from artists like Bryan Adams, Van Morrison and Sinead O’Connor and since then Waters has performed with his old band mates in Pink Floyd for a one off concert in the Live 8 concert.
But since the death of Pink Floyd’s keyboard player Richard Wright any further coaction with the band’s guitarist David Gilmour and drummer Nick Mason are now highly improbably.

Roger Waters Equipments and Instruments

Waters first played a Hofner bass that was soon swap with a Rickenbacker 4001S. Circa 1970 he switched to a Fender Precision Bass. He often plays with a pick but is also known to play fingerstyle. Waters uses RotoSound Jazz Bass 77 bass guitar strings. Throughout his career he has used WEM, Hiwatt and Ashdown amplifiers. He is known to use delay, tremolo, chorus effect and phaser effects in his music.

While usually credited only as a bass guitarist and vocalist, Waters is also known to play electric guitar (as he did on Wish You Were Here and Animals, where he played rhythm guitar on tracks "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" part 9 and "Sheep") as well as synthesizer and tape effects, both to Pink Floyd and his solo works. He also plays acoustic guitar frequently during his live tours, mostly on tracks from The Final Cut and on the track "Mother".

Introduction to Roger Waters

George Roger Waters was born in September 6, 1943. He is an English rock musician, guitarist, bassist, songwriter, and composer.

He is best known for his famous 1965-1985 career with the band Pink Floyd as their main songwriter,and responsible for the majority of the album concepts (from 1968), one of their chief singers (along with David Gilmour), and bass player. He was also the intelligence behind the majority of many of Pink Floyd's symbols including the Pink Floyd Pigs and the marching hammers.

Following this, he began a reasonably successful solo career releasing three studio albums and staging one of the biggest concerts ever, The Wall Concert in Berlin in 1990. In 2005, he unconfined an opera, Ça Ira and rejoined Pink Floyd for a performance at the Live 8 concert in London, on July 2, 2005, for their first public performance together in 24 years.
